CSA

We’ve had a lovely time with our Summer CSA thus far, so lovely a time that we’re gearing up for our Winter CSA starting in November!

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Joining a CSA is a great way to get to know your food and farmer better and to support your local food system in a very direct way! By purchasing a “share” in advance of the season, you provide us with seed money (literally) for the upcoming season in exchange for a great haul of  seasonal veggies each week. CSA members are welcomed and encouraged to visit the farm.

Our CSA will provide you with a variety of fresh greens, herbs, roots. Each weekly share is enough vegetables for a family of four or two hearty vegetarians. Receive between 8 and 12 items each week starting on November 5 and going through February 25! [We take a break the weeks of December 21 and December 28 (12/24 & 12/31.)]

Pick-up will be Wednesdays between 3 and 6:30pm at the Allen Street Farmers Market in Lansing. You will receive 16 weeks of fresh and storage produce including but not limited to:

Potatoes, onions, garlic, leeks, rutabaga, turnips, celeriac, celery, winter squash, cabbage, carrots, beets, sage, parsley, thyme, oregano, ginger, dried cayenne peppers, radishes, salad, arugula, cress, mache, kale, chard, collards, lettuce, pac choi, and spinach

BRIGHT LIGHTS CHARD: Lightly savoyed, green or bronze leaves with stems of many colors including gold, pink, orange, purple, red, and white with bright and pastel variations. The flavor is milder than ordinary chard, with each color a bit different. Suitable for production year round, but somewhat less frost hardy than normal for chard.

COFFEE SHARE

We are beside ourselves with excitement to offer locally wood-roasted coffee as an additional option for our CSA members!

We have partnered with Rust Belt Roastery here in Lansing to bring you the area’s only CSR (Community Supported Roastery)! Rust Belt Roastery offers direct/certified fair trade coffee, all of which is either certified organic or sustainably/responsibly grown.  Each bag of beans will include a brief description of the producers, cultivars, processing, and roast.

$8/ 1/2 lb or $15/lb.  Sign up with your CSA share and received a bag each week when you pick up!

CSA FAQs:

Q: How do I pay?

A: We prefer that all share members pay in-full before distribution begins. We take checks, cash and credit cards. (Please note that card payments are subject to an additional 3% processing fee.) If you are unable to pay all up front, please let us know and we will work with you.

Q: Do you offer half-shares?

A: We are now offering a smaller share option (The Garden Variety)!  The size actually amounts to about 2/3 the full share, which is reflected in the price.  If you are interested in buying our veggies but still think our shares are too big we recommend splitting with a friend.

Q: What if I am unable to pick up my share during the designated pick-up time?

A: We simply ask that you call or e-mail us in advance of the pick-up time so that we know to pack and keep your share at the farm. It will be available for you to pick up from the farm at a later date/time.
