According to the Organic Trade Association’s 2010 Organic Industry Survey, sales of organic food and beverages have grown from $1 billion in 1990 to $24.8 billion in 2009.  Consumers are beginning to source more of their produce locally and are beginning to think about seasonal diets.  As consumer interest grows, so does the number of small farms focusing on the production of diverse fruits and vegetables for local markets.
